While I am super excited to know one of my favorite sci-fi universes will be back on the big screen, I am also incredibly nervous as well. I already know that I'll have to deal with my favorite characters being recast or completely omitted from the new story line, and that's a hard thing to swallow for a fan who has been a fan since the beginning. The good news in all this is, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, the two who wrote and directed the original Stargate movie (1994), are signed up to do the same for the reboot. At the same time, it's been 20 years (Holy Goa'uld, T'eal'c! Has it really been that long??) since the film came out. Can they really jump right back into the Stargate world and deliver something that's not going to disappoint the long-standing fans?
Emmerich gave me some peace on the matter via his Twitter feed today, as he expressed how much he missed the fandom and is looking forward to the project. I said some peace... there is still so much on the line here. Hopefully my geeky heart can cope with the suspense.
I would love for other fellow fans to weigh in on this! Are you super nervous about the reboot, or are you flipping tables, you're so excited? Perhaps a bit of both, like me?
